Window Pain

Salvaged Window, Handycam, Beads
2025

Window Pain broadly explores a tension between calls for divestment from the home, a call to love in public, and the real lived comforts and survival strategies of queer home making. Utilizing footage of intimate touch alongside the motif of the window as a stand in for the nuclear home, Window Pain projects the potential for intimacy to exist within, beyond, and through the confines of the home and the family. Window Pain runs on a loop, with footage lasting 3 minutes and 19 seconds. During this loop, landscapes of warm skin and body contact are delivered to viewers via projection through a salvaged window. Notably, the 6 pane window is void in the center, with 2 panes missing. Because of this, the film projection can be viewed more clearly where glass is missing, allowing the window itself to impact the footage and its delivery.
